SUSPENSION OF THE ANNUAL UNIVERSITY GAMES

School activities are one of the most awaited happenings in the University wherein the students develop their ability in their chosen courses and social interaction with other schools takes place. In Cavite State University campuses, activities including student organization activities, Commencement Exercises, University Games, Foundation Days and other related activities are very important because it manifests the unity and cooperation of every student not only on one campus but among all the CvSU campuses. The experiences and events which can bring happiness, enjoyment and the success of being a University will be one of the fulfillment of the campuses. But, all in a sudden, it will be temporarily suspended due to suspicious Novel Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19). What is this COVID-19? Where does it come from? Why does it temporarily suspend the school activities?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is also called the 2019 Novel Coronavirus is an infectious disease caused by the virus SARS-Cov-2 which is the main reservoir are bats. It is the transmission of the virus through food consumption that affects humans. The consumption of raw or undercooked animal products is prohibited. Raw meat, raw milk or raw animal organs should be handled with care to avoid contamination with uncooked foods. The virus causes respiratory illness like flu with symptoms such as cough, fever and severe cases like pneumonia. It spreads primarily through contact with an infected person when they cough or sneeze, through droplets of saliva and discharges from the nose. Here are some recommendation and advice for the public:

l  Usage of face mask
l  Frequent hand-washing, especially after direct contact with other people
l  Avoiding close contact with people having respiratory illness

l  Practicing cough etiquette

Temporary suspension among school activities should be applied to prevent the spreading of this COVID-19. Since those activities need the participation of many students, it can be one of the reasons to transmit coronavirus to other people even though participants are not positive about this virus. Gatherings and social interaction can be the main source of spreading the virus. Activities are not canceled, it needs to be temporarily suspended to avoid students from the infection of this virus and we don’t want to miss all those activities. Not only campus activities are included in suspension, but it also includes the seminar, training, and conference whether it local or international. Implementation of this preventive measure is helpful to us, most likely, students. Likewise, all activities such as student organization activities, Commencement Exercises, University Games, Foundation Days and other related school activities like seminar, training, and conference will resume for further notice.

“Prevention is better than cure”, the most important thing to remember in this kind of phenomena happening to our country. We all know that it is more important to obviate all the bad happenings in our life than having those burdens and find a solution which is difficult. Avoidance or prevention of this virus can make our life longer because it is not just a virus but it is an infectious disease that can kill our lives.
